At
the winery, while tasting the estate’s wines, you could well meet
Bernard, a devoted wine maker who explains how his wines, through their
savours and colour, reflect the local environment. You will discover
a wine full of panache and character, matured in vats or oak casks.
Hold your glass up to the sun: dusk red, fleshy rose, dawn white. To
be a wine grower is to be a painter. Bring the glass filled with light
up to your nose: blackberries and game birds, spring flowers, cut grass
and flint... Take a sip...Your mouth becomes a palace were you are both
master and servant.
But listen to Bernard Galy talking about his work as a wine grower:
« A little water, plenty of sun, the sky like a promise and the
earth, a barren but yielding mother when one knows how to treat her...Wine
is a link between the Human and the Divine. »
Bernard
Galy’s wine is certainly the product of a whole civilisation. It
is also the child of a subtle creation, a long and difficult gestation,
a constant education, a blend of severe discipline and sustained care...
It is a Corbières, born of a soil which grants its nobility, its
fantasy moulded with class, its consistant quality which is a badge of
honour.
It will tell you of triumphant Julys, suffocating Augusts, the happy nostalgia
of the grape harvests, the secrets of the October nights when the cellar
is stirring with sobs...
An attractive bottle, a good cork, a smart label. Monsieur Galy’s
bottle is on your table. Forget about all the work it has required. This
is our daughter. She is yours. Welcome into our family. For the wine to
be good, one must love making it. From vinestock to vinestock we watch
over our wine, we protect it, we raise it. And each of our bottles is
rather like a daughter whom we gladly entrust to you. Because you too
will love her...
The 17 acre vineyard is composed of the following grape varieties:
grenache, syrah, cinsault, carrignan, chardonnay |
